December Wrap-Up & January TBR

HAPPY NEW YEAR! It's 2015. Guys, it's 2015. :O By the start of a new year it always feels like the previous year went by fast, but 2014 seems like a super fast year. I think that's mostly because 2015 is the year I turn 30. And I'm not going to lie, it's pretty scary looking number. In 2014, especially towards the end I went into a bit of crisis mode. Clearly this isn't the place to get into, but I'm definitely looking to make some changes this year. Time to put on my big girl panties. Anyhow, how was everyone's Christmas/Holiday? I had some time off from work, so that was used to sleep. Haha. It is the busy season here at work(cold weather=people getting the hell outta here and heading south). I also meet up with some local bloggers/booktubers that I'm friends with. We've decided to start a book club. I'm soooo excited for it! <3
December I ended up doing quite a bit of re-reading. I kind of just said to hell with everything and picked up whatever I wanted to. Which made it a pretty good reading month for me. I finished 22 books, 9 of them being re-reads. There was 1 or 2 disappointments. But for the most part everything was 4-5*. Wonderful! Here's all the beauties.

Poison Study(Study #1) by Maria V Snyder 5*(re-read)
My True Love Gave to Me:Twelve Holiday Stories edited by Stephanie Perkins 3.5*
Magic Study(Study #2) by Maria V Snyder 5*(re-read)
Fire Study(Study #3) by Maria V Snyder 5*(re-read)
Let it Snow by John Green, Maureen Johnson & Lauren Myracle 3*
Wild(Ivy Chronicles #3) by Sophie Jordan 4*
Ashes to Ashes(Burn For Burn #3) by Jenny Han & Siobhan Vivian 3*
The False Prince(The Ascendance Trilogy #1) by Jennifer A Nielsen 5*(re-read)
Slammed(Slammed #1) by Colleen Hoover 5*(re-read)
Point of Retreat(Slammed #2) by Colleen Hoover 5*(re-read)
Saga Volume 4 by Brian K Vaughan & Fiona Staples 5*
Sex Criminals Volume 1:One Weird Trick by Matt Friction & Chip Zdarsky 3*
This Girl(Slammed #3) by Colleen Hoover 4*(re-read)
A Court of Thorns and Roses(A Court of Thorns and Roses #1) by Sarah J Maas 6*
The Runaway King(The Ascendance Trilogy #2) by Jennifer A Nielsen 5*(re-read)
This Shattered World(Starbound #2) by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner 4*
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince(HP #6) by J.K. Rowling 5*(re-read)
The Shadow Throne(The Ascendance Trilogy #3) by Jennifer A Nielsen 5*
Doon(Doon #1) by Carey Corp & Lorie Langdon 4*
The finale for the Burn For Burn trilogy was really disappointing. Total cop-out. And Let it Snow and My True Love Gave to Me were alright. I guess writing a short story is a lot harder than writing a full length novel?.... I finally finished off The Ascendance Trilogy. Fantastic ending! The Study series is one of my top faves. I've been wanting to do a re-read. And it was perfect timing as the next book in the series is coming soon. There was one clear stand out of the month(the year really, but that's for tomorrows post). A Court of Thorns and Roses is fantastic! I can't wait to re-read within the next week or two. Just brilliant!

For January I need to catch up on review books I failed to read in December. So I will be making myself read those first. Gotta prioritize. I have my book clubs read of the month, All the Bright Places. Than of course I need to read one of the books Samantha has challenged me to read this year. I'm not sure what one I'm going to pick up yet. I do own 5 of them already, so it will be one of those. And most likely a stand alone too. There are some books I really want to read this month as well, so I'll include them in the picture and cross my fingers that I can fit them in.

How was your December? What are you looking forward to reading in January?

Happy reading!

Brittany

  1. 30's not too bad. Don't worry! I'll be 35 this year and other than the fact that old injuries show up more than they used too I can't tell much difference between 35 and 25! 22 books is an impressive reading month! Hope you have a fantastic 2015!

  2. Happy new year!! I can't believe it's 2015 already! It's crazy.
Did you not hear that 30 is the new 20? :)
Aw man! I'm so annoyed to hear that Ashes to Ashes is a cop out! I've seen quite a few people giving it low ratings. Should I even bother reading Fire with Fire & Ashes to Ashes? I don't want to if the ending is terrible. I really want to start the Ascendance trilogy! I think I have The False Prince on my kindle. I need to get to it this year!
I'm gonna pick one of the books I already own for our challenge as well. Although, I've bought most of them now anyways. I think there's just 3 I don't have (and you're loaning me one of them). I can't wait to see what you think of The Darkest Part of the Forest & The Bone Season! I SPY THE ART OF LAINEY <3333333
    Happy reading :D
