Showcase Sunday #11

Showcase Sunday is a weekly meme held by Books, Biscuits and Tea. It allows fellow bloggers to show off any books or bookish things they've compiled over the week.

Sorry, been a little MIA this week. But I was in Vegas! It was a short trip, but it got my feet wet enough that I caught the Vegas bug and will definitely be going back in the near future. And of course I saw Catching Fire. Holy shit is it amazing! I need to see it again, ASAP. Pretty damn close to the book too. All the new characters were pretty spot on. Especially Johanna. She was fantastic!
I guess I could do a Netgally November update. But there's nothing new to report. I'm still only at four books. I'm going to try and get two more read before the end of the month. Unfortunately my physical books have been more appealing to me in the last week.

Purchased

Just One Year(Just One Day #2) by Gayle Forman
The Warrior Heir(The Heir Chronicles #1) by Cinda Williams Chima
The Wishing Spell(The Land of Stories #1) by Chris Colfer

Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? Audiobook version by Mindy Kaling

How about you guys? Get anything good? Love Catching Fire as much as me?

Happy reading!

  1. Yay for Catching Fire! Johanna was AMAZING! I love her so much <3 I'm so glad that they stuck very close to the book, it made it so much better!
Ooh, great haul this week Brittany! I've been meaning to get around to Just One Day for a while now and I think I'll have to soon since Just One Year is out now. The Warrior Heir sounds awesome!
    Happy reading :)

    1. It really, really did. I actually quite enjoyed Snow in this one too. Yes, he's evil. But Sunderland does such a fantastic job portraying him.
Thanks Sam! I thoroughly enjoy anything by Gayle Forman. I did like Just One Day a bit more than Just One Year. But both were great. :)

  2. Glad you had a good time in Vegas!
And I keep rethinking that maybe I should go see Catching Fire in theaters. I wasn't a huuge fan of the books but I did enjoy the first movie and I always do like it when the keep it close to the books. It feels like one of those series I might just like the movies better, ya know? I keep hearing good things about it at any rate...
The Wishing Spell and Counting by 7's both sound really interesting! Ooh and I've seen Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? before and almost picked it up once or twice... Enjoy!

    1. I think you would love Catching Fire, Jen! Especially if you enjoyed the first movie. CF is sooooo much better. It's just fantastic. There's always those few books that make better movies for people. :)
I love when comedians have books. But I love even more when they do their own audiobook. So I'm hoping I'll love Kaling reading her own as much as I loved Fey reading Bossypants.
      I love Middle Grade books.
      Thanks Jen!
