Top Ten Tuesday: Books I'm Not Sure I Want to Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme held by The Broke and the Bookish.

This weeks topic is:

Top Ten Books I'm Not Sure I want to Read!

10. Eve Trilogy
I've had the trilogy sitting on my shelf for forever. I was obviously interested at one point. But now I could care less. The reviews seem to be pretty mixed. None of my close book friends have read it, so I don't have a someone I know pushing me in either direction. And with the massive amount of series I have on the go right now I don't really feel like adding another one to the mix. Cutting out time for it.

9. Starcrossed Trilogy
I did read the first book, Starcrossed, when it first came out. I thought it was okay. But by the time the second book came out I didn't remember much from the first book. So I decided to wait for the third book to be released than I would binge the trilogy. That didn't happen. I even pre-ordered the third book. It's another one where I kind of don't care. I remember only liking the first book so at this point do I really want to take the time to re-read that book in the hopes that I'll enjoy the second and third book more than the first? Not so much.

8. Struck
I can't remember if I bought this full price(I better not have), but whatever I own it. The premise sounds interesting and cool. But again it comes down to it being another series that I don't really want to invest in. I've also not heard anything about it. Even after I just checked Goodreads to get this picture, most of my Goodreads friends haven't read or reviewed it. So I'm up in the air about this one. Maybe one day.

7. Let the Sky Fall
I did start this when it first came out, but I set it down because I found it confusing and all over the place. I figured I'd eventually come back to it and try again. But it's been over a year and I really haven't had a second thought about it. So I think it's safe to say that this book is probably not going to be read. By me at least.

6. Uglies Trilogy
I know this is a very well loved trilogy and I did buy the box set sometime last year with all intent to read them right away. But I didn't. I know it doesn't make a difference, but this trilogy is like ten years old now and let's face it, with all the shiny new ones being released every week this one just keeps getting forgotten.

5. Kingdom Keepers 7:The Insider
Yes, this is the last book in a seven book series. So I know you're thinking just get it over with. But I really disliked the sixth book and I did read the first fifty pages or so of this one and it put me to sleep. The writing and the story has continually gone down hill as the series progressed. I don't even care how it ends.

4. Real
Oh man, this book. I don't understand the ratings, they are so so good. And that's what made me want to read it. But than my good friend, Samantha just read it and was kind enough to share with me some very distributing and baffling  scenes. I thank her for reading this book and immediately warning me to stay the hell away.

3. Jane Austen
Is this blasphemy? I feel like I'm going to be shot down now. Here's the thing, I've tried many a times to read her books with absolute zero success of surpassing the first few pages. I'm really not a classics reader, I can't get into the writing and language. I'm a modern girl. I'll continue to try Austen's works in the future since I am forever changing as a reader. But as of right now, I just can't do it.

2. A Game of Thrones
One of my good friends actually gave me GoT years and years ago in high school(this is the cover of my copy; old school). But as a lazy teenager I didn't end up picking it up. Now we're in the time of GoT with the success of the show and I still don't really care. Since you're asking, no I haven't seen the show either. The size of a book doesn't scare me(my favourite series of all time is Outlander and those are beasts), it's just a very long series to have to invest time into and I'm lazy. Whatevs...

1. Gone series
Because I'm stupid, I do own all six books in this series. At least I found them all relatively cheap. Of course I also had planned to binge the series. But now I look at it, all six books of decent size, and my eyes glaze over. Six books. Do I actually care enough to want to read this series anymore? Not really. Laziness wins out again.

How about you guys? Link up your TTT.

Happy reading!

  1. Out of these I only read ASoIaF and it took me like a year (with 2 exam months and waiting for one book to get out) and it was soooo worth it. Watching the show is so not enough. I suggest you get on that because it's so good. It's politics, schemes, wars, love, killer kids and all kinds of other awesomeness like DRAGONS. :D Get to it :P

  2. Yes to pretty much all of these but Jane Austen? I didn't know that was allowed! To be honest though I'm not sold on her either. I like Pride and Prejudice but tried Northanger Abbey and it was painful. And to be really honest I liked the movie better than the book with P&P. Game of Thrones isn't happening for me either. My husband watches the show but I leave the room!

  3. Great picks! I read the first ASoIaF series and thought it was really brilliant. I adore the TV show, but I agree that it's a very long book series to commit to. I am also put off by the fact George R.R. Martin takes so long to write a new book and keeps you waiting, I am not a patient person. I have read quite a few of the Gone series but never finished it, I don't know if I ever will. I have also read the first two Starcrossed books, I own all 3 and do intend to finish them. Here's my TTT.

  4. I've only read the first two Gone books and I doubt I'll ever finish the series, even though I do own the next 3. I actually really adore the Starcrossed trilogy and I loooooooved Let the Sky Fall and it's sequel. I've only read the first Uglies book and I've had the next two sitting on my bookcase for about a year and a half.
I don't know if I can be bothered with ASoIaF or Jane Austen either. I have attempted to read Game of Thrones, Pride and Prejudice and Emma, but never got very far.
