Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme held by The Broke and the Bookish.
This week's topic is: Back to School Freebie; So I went with the books I would house on my classroom bookshelves if I was a teacher.
I'm imaging myself as a grade 7 or higher teacher because YA is life. And I know those bookshelves would have a wide range of books. It could be because the story is an important one. Or it's a favourite and I think everyone and anyone should read it. Maybe it's a good introduction to a certain genre. There'd be many a reason why these books would find a home in my classroom and why I think they'd impact these teens in a positive way. As hard as this is, I've kept my list to ten(and yes, I'm missing the obvious that is Harry Potter because obviously).

Narrowing this down was so hard. I feel like my list is incomplete. But I love this books. Agree? Disagree? Hook up your TTT below.

Cinder and The Fixer are both on my must read list though of course since the former has been out for so much longer and hyped, it probably should be the one I read first. :)
ReplyDeleteSo far, the only one I've read is Cinder. Several others are on my TBR.

I've read only the Book Thief and Cinder, both of which are excellent. My TTT lists some sci-fi cat books to read instead of doing homework.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many books on here that are just awesome. I adore Simon Vs... Such a good book! :-)
ReplyDeleteYes, very nice list!

I love seeing Code Name Verity and Finnikin on your list! Those are two of my absolute favorites.

Love your list!! I still need to read Simon. Thanks for reminding me :) And YES to Cinder, I'll Meet You There, and Code Name Verity. LOVE those books!
ReplyDeleteI did this topic as well and my selection process was a bit similar to yours! On your list, I've only read Cinder, but so many of these are on my TBR. I need to read The Book Thief and Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda and Finnikin of the Rock especially. Great list!!
ReplyDeleteMy TTT!
I loved Cinder! She's such a great character. I liked that she's still a teenage girl in so many ways but on the other hand she can definitely take care of herself. I need to read Code Name Verity. I've heard it's amazing. And of course more Rainbow Rowell!
ReplyDeleteAHHHH! Code Name Verity was so amazing, I'm still dying from the end (so many feels getting trampled, SO MANY) and I would definitely put that on recommended reading. Also, Ruta Sepetys's books are really amazing, they're historical fiction as well and I simply adore them. :D

Excellent list, Brittany. I almost put I'll Meet You There on my list as well. It's one of my favorite YA contemporaries *ever* but I wavered because I think I appreciated it a lot more now than I would have in school. My husband was in the Navy for 20 years and that gave me an incredible appreciation and understanding for what Josh went through. Had I read the book as a teen I think I would have felt bad for Josh, but as an adult a made a much bigger impact on me.
