Weekly Wrap-up February 27th-March 4th

This week I managed to read six books. Two physical books. Four e-books; two of them novellas.

Killer Instinct(The Naturals #2) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes ****.5
A rare occurrence; the sequel is better than the first book. This book is soooo good guys. If you're at all into Criminal Minds or those type of shows than this book is perfect. It's very obvious that the author has a background in profiling and criminology. But also the story and characters are great too. Yes, there is some romance but like with the first one it's just a small piece. The characters don't let it impede on their work. Can't wait to get my hands on the next book.

Beautiful Player(Beautiful #3) by Christina Lauren *****(re-read)
I had to do another re-read because of reasons below. But I LOVE Will and Hanna. They are one of my favourite couples.

Beautiful Boss(Beautiful #4.5) by Christina Lauren ****
It seems like I've been waiting for forever for more Will and Hanna. I would happily read twenty more books about them. Even with this one being a decent size novella, it was just enough to see two people with Phd's figure out married life. I just absolutely adore Will and Hanna.

The Pact(The McGregors #1) by Karina Halle ***.5
I love me a good friends to lovers story, and that's definitely what The Pact is. Steph and Linden are best friends, both secretly harbouring deepers feelings for each other. They have a great friendship, with great banter. Was loving that. My enjoyment of the book wavered once they got together. It become really cheesy and they seemed to lose the good dialogue they had going on. Maybe all the lies and secrets got in the way. But either way, I actually liked them much more as friends than a couple. Still a good book though.

The Play(The McGregors #3) by Karina Halle ****.5
Oh man, I was not prepared for the feels The Play brought. The first half of the book was great, but that second half, shit got real. I love Kayla and Lachlan. Super hot attraction between them. But Lachlan was my real love of the story; this dark, quiet beast of a man who turned out to be a sweetheart with a lot of demons. My heart, man it just wanted to hug him. And his love for dogs, hits me right in the ovaries. This is definitely my favourite of Halle's books to date.

Winter Wishes(The McGregors #3.5) by Karina Halle ****
This was a great novella that was kind of like a longer epilogue to The Play. Loved seeing Kayla and Lachlan finding their feet together.

  1. Awesome reading week, Brittany! Who's the guy in the Instagram pic? I feel like I should know him but I'm drawing a total blank. I read one called For the Love of Hockey last week and it took me the entire week. I was hardly every picking it up because I was sooo annoyed with the MC and the story. The first book was so good... the one? Ugh.

    2. OMG, I actually considered JBJ at first glance but then decided it wasn't him because he looked too old. LMAO Oops. My apologies to you and Jon. :)
The semi-ranty review will be up Friday. Ugh.
