Showcase Sunday #74

Showcase Sunday is a weekly meme held by Books, Biscuits and Tea. It allows fellow bloggers to show off any books or bookish things they've compiled over the week.

Can't type. Fingers are so cold. Can't get warm.
Seriously, it has been like -30C all week. It's effing ridiculous. And even when we got a break yesterday, Mother Nature decided to spew white shit all day. I am beyond over winter.
I'm pretty sure it should be illegal for me to walk into a Chapter. I didn't mean to go twice this week. It kind of just happened. Naturally. I was sick on Monday and had to leave work after a hour. So of course I stopped and picked up a bunch of graphic novels on my way home. Than because I have a problem I went to Chapters, again, later in the week because I was bored. You guys get me though. Unfortunately my bank account does not. Anyhow, bunch of fantastic books this week. C'ya on the other side.

Purchased

Beautifully Damaged(Beautifully Damaged #1) by L.A. Fiore: Just hunting through the romance section at Chapters and this one drew me in.
Bad Romeo(Starcrossed #1) by Leisa Rayven: Same as above, except I've already devoured this. It even has me in a book hangover.
Perfect Kind of Trouble(Finding Fate #2) by Chelsea Fine: Same trip as the above two. Synopsis sounded like my kind of NA. So it came home with me.

Save Me by Jenny Elliott: I enjoyed the first book from Swoon Reads. I was surprised to see this in store, So naturally I had to buy it.
Blackfin Sky by Kate Ellis: Also surprised to see this indy book in store. I've heard pretty good things, so on home it comes.

Ms. Marvel Vol 1: No Normal: Really, really good. Excited to see where the story goes.
Alex + Ada Vol 1: Really awesome sci-fi about androids and what happens when you give them free will.
Rat Queens Vol 1: Sass & Sorcery: PERFECTION! MY new favourite. Even if you don't love graphic novels, you'll love this.
Deadly Class Vol 1: Reagan Youth: I started it but wasn't really feeling it. I'll pick it back up next month.
The Wicked + The Divine Vol 1: The Faust Act: It was alright. Kind of a disappointing story wise. But the art work is on point.

E-Books Purchased
Twisted, Tamed & Tied(Click on books for GR links): If you remember I purchased the first book, Tangled last week. Well I read it and than couldn't do anything else until I read the rest of the series. So that's what I did last Sunday. Read 4 romance books. Don't judge.
Best Kind of Broken: Having bought second(see above) without realizing it was the second book. I saw the first book for $0.99 on Kindle and was not saying no to that.

Review

Challenger Deep by Neal Shusterman: Thank you so much to HCC Frenzy for sending this out. I love Shusterman's Unwind series and this new book seems like it's going to be pretty powerful.

Netgalley

More Than Comics(Chasing the Dream #2) by Elizabeth Briggs: Already read and reviewed. Go me!

What did you guys get this week?

Happy reading!

Brittany

  1. Great haul! I love the cover of Bad Romeo, so bright and eye catching even if I had never heard of it before now and I could say the same for Save Me......

  2. Books always make you feel better when you're ill. I hope you're feeling better now!
I'll definitely make sure to get to Bad Romeo soon, it sounds fantastic! Save Me sounds so creepy but so damn amazing!! I picked up Blackfin Sky in London last year because it sounded amazing!
I think I'll have to pick up Tangled soon too. If you read all 4 in one day, it must be a fantastic series!
    Happy reading :D

  3. Fantastic haul but -30???? I didn't know that was possible. That's far too cold. Come south and you can complain about +30 degrees like me! Also, I think any books bought when it's that cold and especially when you're sick don't count! Have a great week and enjoy your new books!

  6. Awesome haul this week. Bad Romeo is a book I have been seeing EVERYWHERE! Now you have me very eager to read that one. I'd been contemplating buying it and then just never did... but that may need to change now. Especially if it's good enough to have given you a book hangover!
