The Best Series Blog Hop is for us bloggers to get you excited for our favourite YA series. So of course I had to get involved in this. Not only are the lovely Cuddlebuggery ladies hosting it but I'm about to get my wonderful readers excited about a YA series I absolutely adore.
There was no lists or thinking involved. As soon as I decided to participate, there was only one series I wanted to talk about.

The Elemental Series by Brigid Kemmerer
*clicking on pictures will lead to Goodreads book page*
Guys, this series! This series! I love it so much because it has all the things.
Kemmerer hasn't written just another YA book about some hot boys with paranormal powers. This is wholly original.
The books primarily focus of the four orphaned Merrick brothers. They can each control a different element; earth, air, fire and water. After the tragic death of their parents they were outcast from the elemental community. Now all they have is each other and are just trying to keep out of trouble.
Kemmerer makes it very difficult to remember that three of these brothers are teenagers and that I should not be having these thoughts. So I find it helpful to imagine them as the Hemsworth brothers. Makes it less dirty.

You're welcome
The books don't only focus on the brothers. You get dual POVs with some very kick-ass ladies. In fact the first chapter of Storm has Becca saving Chris' s ass from being handed to him by a few guys.
And in Spirit we shift even more so from the Merricks with Hunter taking the helm. He has the cutest dog ever, Casper, who totally steals the show.
Now even with all these shifting POVs you never lose sight of the other characters. They're still fully involved in the story.
Among all this epic elemental action Kemmerer still delves into some harder topics such as rape, sexuality and bullying. She really, really knows how to hit you right in the feels. Hell I even wanted to give a few characters hugs that I was totally hating on. She's not afraid to go there(Secret was a freakin' killer). And she does it all like she writes in her sleep. Not an ounce of insensitivity.
The biggest "thing" Kemmerer does give us...
"No, not your biceps, Theo."
...is the characters and writing. Michael the oldest brother is raising his younger brothers which could get totally cliche. But it doesn't. Gabriel, Chris and Nick might tease him or get mad at him sometimes for being their "father" and sure it's a role he had to take on. But all of them still act like brothers. I love the relationships between them all. And actually that can be said for all the main relationships in this series. Romantic, friendship or family. They're all complex and developed. No insta-love.
And the dialogue guys, it is so so witty and age appropriate. Nothing fake. They swear, fight, tease. Just talk and act like teenagers do.
I could literally flip to any page and find something to highlight. Mostly because it's hilarious. I'm LOL'ing just thinking about my favourite bits.
“If you want me to fix your homework, you need to leave me alone.” Then he spotted her. “You’re back.”
“Yeah.” She glanced between him and Gabriel. “You do his homework?”
“Just the math. It’s a miracle he can count to ten.”
“I can count to one.” Gabriel gave him the finger.”
It's pretty clear that I could write a billion more reasons why I love The Elemental series(obviously half of those reasons would have to do with the Merrick brothers in one way or another). But what would really prove me right(and lets face it, I'm always right) is picking up these books and experiencing their epicness first hand. And when you've finished the four out now and well impatiently waiting on Sacrifice you can feel free to tweet me saying how you've made me your God. For totally legit reasons, obviously.
The most important thing I want you to take away from my fangirling and it's very important, is I saw Gabriel first.
