Today is the first day of Quinton Carter's new life. The toxic guilt of his past left him in pieces-but one girl unexpectedly put him back together. Thanks to Nova Reed, Quinton can finally see the world with clear eyes. She's the reason his heart is still kicking behind the jagged scar on his chest. And he would love to have her in his arms every minute of the day . . . but he's not ready yet.
Playing drums in a band and living with her best friends are just some of the highlights of Nova's life. But the best new development? Talking to Quinton on the phone each night. She wishes she could touch him, kiss him, though she knows he needs time to heal. Yet shocking news is on the way-a reminder of life's dark side-and Nova will need Quinton like he once needed her. Is he strong enough to take the final leap out of his broken past . . . and into Nova's heart?
So here we are, the ending of Nova and Quinton's story. Well in print anyhow. I was so interested in getting here. After the last book and how it ended I of course needed to make sure that Quinton and Nova were going to be okay.
It's been a few months since Nova returned from Vegas after saving Quinton from the brink of self destruction. She's moving forward with her life but she's constantly thinking about him. She hasn't spoken to him since he entered rehab. She knew he needed his space to work on fixing himself. But of course she worries.
Quinton is leaving rehab. It's the first day of his new life. He's scared and unsure but he's determined to get better. To make something of himself. The only problem is his lingering feelings with the past. It's nearly impossible for him let the past go. He can't help thinking that if he forgets about Lexie than he's letting her down. Why was he allowed to live? Drugs were his outlet for covering the pain of remembering, so now Quinton has to learn to deal with life without the comforts of drugs.
I feel Nova and Quinton:No Regrets is Quinton's time for growth and change. We saw how Nova changed her life in the last book. So now it is Quinton's turn to prove he's worth it. He can move forward.
They are both still dealing with life and how you can remember those that left you without feeling the guilt of what you could have done. Nova is one of those people that feels she's guilty no matter what the situation. Even if she was barely involved in so and so's life she feels like she could have done something to save them. But thankfully she has people in her life like Lea and her mom that are constantly telling her that people can really only save themselves. So she's still working through that and she's shown a lot of growth.
What I really love is how much she was there for Quinton. They live in different states and as much as Quinton wants to see her, he knows he is not ready. He needs time to sort through his life. Get himself to a point where he doesn't feel guilty every time he thinks about how much he can see a future with Nova which means he's forgetting about Lexie. Quinton and Nova talk everyday. There is no secrets or drug induced moments between them anymore. Nova is finally getting to see the real Quinton. And like I mentioned, they are there for each other and support each other in every hitch in the road. Even when Quinton has a slip and gets a hold of some meth. As much as he wants to just take it he tells Nova. And rather than Nova get made a berate him for slipping up, she helps he through the reasons why he needed it and from there helps him through flushing it away. It's a tearjerker of a moment.
I also need to mention Triston. We saw how he got help and cleaned up after almost overdosing in the last book. And now he's living with Nova, going to school. But you can tell(along with Nova) that something isn't right. He's constantly on about how life is so boring. Yea he's clean but there's nothing to life. It's the same day in and day out. It's actually quite sad. Sure he's living each day, but he's not really. Without drugs he doesn't seem to see the fun in life. And as the book progresses we see him start to really slip. Nova has some inner conflict going on about him. But ultimately you can't save anyone. I like how Sorensen showed the really lasting effects of addiction. It's terrible and even when someone takes that step to get clean the battle is really never over.
I wouldn't mind seeing where Nova and Quinton go from here. Living their life together. But overall I'm very happy with how Sorensen ended their story off. There was so many emotions and growth throughout Nova and Quinton: No Regrets that it made it such a satisfying ending.
Happy reading!
